I ordered the 5-variety pack. The texture and taste of the marshmallows is wonderful - except for the Birthday Cake flavor. It smells and tastes like Play-Doh. While I have been known to eat Play-Doh, that was many, many years ago as a toddler before my palate had a chance to develop. And let's face it, toddlers eat a variety of items that aren't necessarily intended to be food. Since that time, I have realized that Play-Doh is not suitable for consumption, nor is it tasty (I may have sampled Play-Doh once as an inebriated college student, but that doesn't count). The other issue I had was with the chocolate chip marshmallows. They are sooooo tasty, but they were next to the cold pack in the box and developed condensation inside the package, as I discovered upon opening and finding the marshmallows had morphed into one big, slightly damp and squishy marshmallow. But that Birthday Cake flavor. Seriously Hammond's Candies, demote the person(s) responsible for creating that flavor!Updating my review. They did arrive melted, but I contacted the company, and they sent out a replacement right away. They arrived unmelted and they were fantastic. It was not their fault it was 109 degrees when they marshmellows shipped. I will for sure by again from this company.I paid 35 dollars for five packets of marshmallows, and they arrived all melted together. They only had one small icepack in the box, that was completely melted also. SO DISAPPOINTED.A little expensiveI have ordered these marshmallows before. They are delicious and so much more healthy than regular marshmallows. They are expensive, no doubt about that. However, my last order, placed a few weeks ago, arrived with 2 packages taped tightly together and the packages crammed into one box with little or no padding. Perhaps they encountered some end-of-the-summer heat.. I don't know. The result was that the marshmallows arrived smashed together and glued to the package walls. I am not thinking this is healthy. My ratings above would be higher were it not for this last order. I'm not sure how to average this bad experience with the other few good experiences, but did the best I could. The marshmallows in the bag were all stuck together and difficult to separate. The package came two bags banded together with a rubber band. Very disappointing !UPDATE from original post:12/14/21 Unprompted and unbeknownst to me, Hammond Candies sent me a variety pack of their marshmallows, for free, to showcase their other flavors. This was such a lovely gesture and very much appreciated - great customer service. I tried them all: Coconut, vanilla, chocolate chip. I will say that the other flavors tasted much better and didn't have the false, chemical flavor that the birthday cake flavor had for me.I don’t know how other flavors of the Hammond marshmallows compare - but the Birthday cake flavor was terrible. They both smelled and had the taste of plastic - surprising considering they are supposed to be high end, gourmet candies. I ended up throwing them away. The complimentary candy bar they included, however, was delicious.I agree with another reviewer, that the smash mallow brand has much tastier marshmallows.Delicious. I have tried the toasted coconut, vanilla bean and the chocolate chip marshmallows. All good. I want to try the caramel pumpkin but there seems to be some shipping issues. I think the chocolate chip are the ones Panera uses in there hot chocolate. They are very yummy. All arrived fresh.I looked so hard for these with no corn and finally found them! They are wonderful. I can't believe someone actually complained about how they look irregular. How dumb. Who cares. They look gourmet and hand made. They melt great in rice crispy treats.
