About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words.Tasty, Nutritious, RealHow did you come up with the idea for this product?Out of necessity really. As athletes we were always in search of the holy grail of active lifestyle nutrition: products that taste fantastic but are made with real food, all natural ingredients. In life’s endeavors - and especially in the endurance sports world - when you “hit the wall” it’s called Bonking. It’s almost always caused by deficiencies in proper nutrition and can be easily prevented. We had always used energy bars in our own competitive endeavors, but we felt that nothing on the market met our admittedly very high standards! So we literally started cooking up fresh bars in the apartment kitchen. Initially they were for our own use, but people loved them and started asking to buy them. That was our “ah ha” moment when we realized that our idea and product might do really well in the active lifestyle market. So that’s when we launched Bonk Breaker!What makes your product special?All of our customers, whether professional and olympic athletes or parents looking for tasty “on the go” snacks tell us that they love our products first and foremost because they taste amazing. Going directly to our customers in the R&D and product development process is absolutely the best way to be responsive to what customers are looking for, and we rely on their participation and feedback 100%.What has been the best part of your startup experience?Along with the incredible passion we have as founders to create the best products on the market, the best part of our experience is seeing the awesome reaction we get when a new customer takes a bite of our products for the first time - and falls in love with them. We experience this at sporting events, in-store demos, and industry expos as well. When a new customer tells us that “this is hands down the best nutrition bar I’ve ever had”, it’s incredibly satisfying and makes all the 20 hour days feel worthwhile!
