We do not eat wheat, and most of the gluten free products and recipes contain potato starch (which leaves me in pain for days) or xanthan gum which is very unhealthy. THEN I found Chebe!I've been using Chebe mixes for a few years, but was going to quit buying them since the price has almost doubled in the past year. Then I found this case of 8 boxes on Amazon at a limited time special price. We are back to Chebe heaven in our home - at least for a while. I also have a lot of tapioca flour and make 'tapioca cheese puffs' from scratch, but the mix has a more bread-like texture and when I can get it at a really low price it is my favorite. It doesn't really matter what "flavor" of the Chebe mix you buy: You can use any of them about any way you want to. They do have a lot of recipes on their web site, but I make up my own as well. Flavored bread sticks? Simply add your own onion and garlic powder and some dried oregano, etc..........like that.Edited to add: After they are baked, the products freeze very well. Take out what you need from the freezer bag and heat gently (half power or less) in the microwave.I've used several Chebe products over the years. This is my favorite. I use it mostly for pizza crust. All of the other chebe products have different seasonings added to the recipe so I like this one best since it's just basic dough. It's the most like regular pizza crust of pretty much all the gluten free products out there. Believe me, I've tried them all. This rises a little so it's not just a super thin crust like most gf crusts. And it takes about 2 minutes to mix up so you don't have to plan ahead like you do when you make a yeast dough. When my family gets pizza I just whip up a box of this really quick, spread it on a baking stone, pop it in the oven and voila, I have a pizza as good as what they're eating by the time the delivery guy gets to our door. With all due respect to brown rice, quinoa and cauliflower if I had to eat another pizza crust made from that I'd probably eat a box of cereal and go cry in the corner while my family ate their regular pizza. Chebe is amazing! If you can't have gluten you need to try this.I do not make these with cheese as shown in the directions so bear that in mind when reading this review. I like the taste of these rolls, however, they don't hold up well as a sandwich. Also, Ifind that the texture is much better after they cool. They are gummy in the middle when eaten right out of the oven. I would highly recommend them as a dinner roll, warmed with butter or your preferred substitute.I was given a free sample of this product to try and having tried other gluten free breads was somewhat sceptical regarding this brand. As those of us who must avoid gluten (celiac disease) know most GF breads are not that palatable. I eventually used this product and was very happily surprised to find these were really quite good. I did find that mixing the dough was definitely different to regular bread dough and for several minutes I wondered if a nice dough would even form for me. However I just took my time and kept working it until low and behold I got a ball of dough. I did add some cheese as well but not as much as the recipe called for. Anyway the results were quite good, the bread formed 4 nice buns, browned and a little crispy on the outside, and best of all slightly chewy and elastic on the inside. These are good for GF buns, but they are definitely different to regular bread that we all grew up eating. I really miss having bread in my diet so these are a nice addition to have every now and then. I hadn't eaten any bread of any kind for almost a year so getting to eat these was really a great treat. Anyone who tries these should not expect these to taste just like the bread they used to eat, but at least it is close in texture and the taste is not too bad. I dipped these into a bowl of homemade GF soup and it was hard to tell the difference between this and regular bread. However there is a noticeable taste difference if you just eat the bread by itself, so I suggest using them for soup dipping, or making sandwiches, or as hamburger buns with all the trimmings, GF trimmings of course :) Good luck to everyone else who must follow the GF diet.
