I've used this spread over Nutella due to a lactose allergy, and this has been interesting. I will say it won't taste like Nutella or as sweet as you'd want.It has a slight bitterness due to the chocolate it uses, it's a good alternative spread for those that really have a hankering for chocolate hazelnut spreads. I personally like it, but that is also because I prefer slight bitterness with my chocolates too. So if you want to try this, by all means, but do not put it with the expectations it will taste like Nutella!I didn't think I would write a review for this product, but it really is THAT good. I just felt compelled to dispel all these reviews saying it's "too bitter" or "not sweet enough" - you people must have an INSANE sugar intake and tolerance if you think that's the case because this most definitely is sweet. I honestly would not like it any sweeter, and I'm not saying that as one of those vegan health nuts that eat a date or fresh fruit for dessert. I have a pretty big sweet tooth and love rich, indulgent desserts and this definitely hits the mark. To me it tastes just like Nutella, and I went into it expecting it to taste more healthy (in a bad way) based on peoples' reviews saying it wasn't sweet enough, but I was extremely pleasantly surprised that it tasted just like I remembered before going vegan. It's a little more expensive than Nutella, sure, but it also has all organic ingredients, plus a little extra protein and much more fiber than Nutella, without the unnecessary dairy, so I think it's definitely worth it. Will definitely be buying more!Just tried this hazelnut butter. Would say it’s pretty good overall. It spreads well and tastes good, except for being slightly too sweet (for my taste). All in all, would recommend this product, just wish it had slightly less sugar (but still good). It’s a great product if your liking for a Nutella that’s got less sugar. It’s MUCH more watering and not as creamy as the original but if you need LESS sugar, it’s not that bad. Make sure to stir VERY well before using as it’s not thick and creamy - it’s VERY running before stirring and even after that, it’s not that creamy and thick. It’s not a bad product, but it’s not the best either. I have it 5 stars bevause the flavor is GREAT and it’s got LESS sugar and that’s really all I was after. As a vegan, I get protein from nuts, peanuts, beans and whole grains. This spread definitely qualifies as a source of protein, because of the hazelnuts in it.I found it personally interesting to compare this chocolate-hazelnut spread with peanut butter for its nutritional content. Both of them, by the way, taste delicious combined with strawberry jam on whole-wheat toast. This spread does not have quite as much protein as peanut butter, but close, and it has three times as much fiber and less fat. It does, though, have four times as much sugar. This is a comparison of their nutritional value per tablespoon:Peanut butter has 4 grams of protein and this hazelnut spread has 3.Peanut butter has 6 grams of carbohydrates, of which 2 grams is fiber and 3 grams is sugar. This hazelnut spread has 18 grams of carbohydrates, of which 6 grams is fiber and 12 grams is sugar.Peanut butter has 16 grams of fat. This hazelnut spread has 14 grams of fat.Peanut butter has 94 calories per tablespoon (minus 8 calories for fiber—2 grams x 4 calories—leaves a net of 86 calories). This hazelnut spread has 105 calories per tablespoon (minus 24 calories for fiber—6 grams x 4 calories—leaves a net of 81 calories). If you make a sandwich of this spread, using 3 tablespoons on 2 slices of whole wheat bread (which contains 3.6 grams of protein and 1.9 grams of fiber per slice), you are consuming 16 grams of protein and a whopping 24 grams of fiber (almost a full day’s supply) for only 365 calories. It makes a healthy, filling, delicious breakfast, lunch or mid-afternoon snack. And because there are no animal products involved, you don’t have to worry about getting food poisoning from spoiled food stored for hours outside of refrigeration in a lunch box.I had never eaten regular, non-organic hazelnut spread before trying this product, so I can’t compare them. But I personally found this hazelnut spread to have a delicious flavor. I like it alone, right out of the jar, spread on crackers or toast or on chocolate wafers, topped on strawberries or cherries, or combined with peanut butter or with jam and spread on toast.Note that this product contains palm oil, which can be a problem for this reason: Palm oil production is considered to be responsible for 8% of the world's deforestation between 1990 and 2008. The Nutiva company states in this regard: “Our palm oil is grown on small organic family farms in the North West of Ecuador. By partnering with Natural Habitats in Ecuador we ensure that no deforestation or habitat destruction results from the growing or harvesting process.”I will definitely buy this flavor again, and I am also going to try the dark chocolate version next.It is a small jar, so it goes fast. It tastes good. But I did taste better vegan spreads. I am hoping the company can improve it.If you have a more refined palate, prepare for a truly grateful tongue as it sample the smooth, rich, true chocolate (with hazelnut) flavor of Nutiva. I speak French, have visited France and Belgium many times, and once thought Nutella was great. I will NEVER eat horribly sweet Nutella again. A preference for sugar like the pale Hershey or Cadbury imitations of chocolate explains any reviewer that does not prefer Nutiva. If you have sampled many varieties of Belgian chocolate and are ecstatic as a real chocolate morsel melts deliciously on your tongue, then try Nutiva. I just realized that Nutiva offers a dark chocolate version, and I'm curious to try it now because one way to describe regular, red-label Nutiva would be a higher cacao content, aka darker than Nutella.Try Nutiva: You can always mix with sugar & a little milk if you decide you prefer the less chocolatey, Nutella version. Nutiva is thicker than Nutella; it will need to be stirred if it has been sitting awhile before opening, more like natural peanut or almond butter rather than Skippy.Savoring Nutiva on brioche has enabled a vast increase in the lifetime of my stash of Belgian chocolat (a quarter of my carryon on my last flight back was Belgian chocolate bars!). Nutiva on brioche plus espresso or a latte... Mmmm.I prefer fine wine, whiskey (from Scotch to Bourbon), and Nutiva classic chocolate hazelnut spread!Great flavor lower in sugar/fat
