Can't believe it went up $20 recently. The 5 pound jar is only $20 more now so I think they are trying to push that. The taste kind of sucks but there is less fat and seems like a better product for it's purpose. Looking for alternatives now that the 2 pound is so much more before committing to buying the 5 pound jar.Product is worth the money. Protein blends nicely to make a delicious smoothie.I used to purchase ONLY this powder. It was the only one that was versatile enough to make delicious shakes, puddings, and cakes. The consistency was extremely versatile. Plus, this powder was very affordable. Sadly this is no longer the case. I will have to switch brands, which stinks, as my son has been on the protein shake meal supplement train for the past year or so. With as quickly as our family goes through a tub I can no longer justify the 100 percent mark up from a year ago.I understand inflation, but this powder is now the same price of better quality brands my gym sells…and I know my gym makes a “convenience” profit so folks can buy right then and there.Anyway, I hate that i now have to do the deep dive into other brands now as MetRx has been good to me for years but I cannot justify the huge mark up.Love it still 21 years later!!!I was a regular Met-Rx user back in the 1990's and decided to revisit it via this low sugar/carb product.Typically I prefer to purchase aminos and protein shakes separately, but this product includes a number of my regular aminos and then some. For example, arginine, ornithine and glutamine are included in Med-Rx Protein Plus.Prior to taking Met-Rx Protein Plus, I was drinking a straight protein shake with little sugar/carbs and no aminos. I could see and feel a difference in my workouts within 3 days of my 1st Met-Rx shake. I combine it with creatine and sometimes Extend (described below). Otherwise, I haven't altered any other supplements. It's been a week now and I am already seeing strength gains. It also helps me want to workout longer. If you're someone who already take a lot of supplements, you may not experience much change, though I'm sure the protein synthesis is a big player in the strength gains. As for the flavor, I'm not a fan, and that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I have been lifting for over 20 years and have had my share of nasty tasting shakes that I chug in one gulp; however, the market has grown significantly over the years and there are some great tasting products out there. I sometimes take Extend by Scivation, which tastes absolutely fantastic in kiwi strawberry. If you mix some Extend with Met-Rx Protein Plus vanilla, you have a much better tasting shake. If you're going to do this however, review the aminos and other ingredients in both to ensure you're not over supplementing. Extend has a good amount of arginine and glutamine in it already.I use this to lose weight and find that I like the fact that the amino acids are gradually absorbed. The flavor is nice with no after taste. I make it using 1/2 skim milk and 1/2 water when not adding anything else to it. I use just water when adding fruit to make smoothies. I've always used protein powder at least once a day when dieting and I make sure to drink it for breakfast to kick start my metabolism. The product fulfills most of my expectations however I wish it would have a few of the important vitamins included as well, which is the reason for 4 stars rather than 5 stars. After my protein drink in the morning, throughout the day I eat about another 3-4 times, fruits and vegetables. Sometimes I'll make a very small protein drink if I'm feeling hungry but normally I don't have to do that, I don't get hungry on this diet. I've lost 10 pounds during this first week. I'm getting a little closer to my goal weight then I'll eat more normally but eat a low carb, low fat diet with the protein power as my breakfast as maintenance for awhile. That way I will keep the weight lost off. I has worked all my life so I'm glad to have found this powder with a good taste and amino acids but wish it had L-Carnitine to help with the fat metabolism. But this protein powder is very close to what I was looking for and the price was within my range plus it works well for me and would buy again.I’ve used this for years because I simply love the taste. I recently tried another brand, but didn’t care for the taste, so I’m back to my favorite. Use in smoothies or mixed & blended with water using a hand-held frother. The taste is a little thicker than I like, even when you try to add a couple more ounces of water it’s a bit thick, the chocolate taste is ok definitely not the best I’ve had but it is very filling especially when you blend it with milk and a banana.excellent product and used correctly, it will help wound-healing and also prevent hunger pangs as well as maintaing muscle strength.Love this protein product. Shameful we cant get it in Europe for less than $50 - less than half this price in the US.It is not like how it used to be before, I think they may have changed the formula, It has very thin consistency.I got boils in 3-4 places on my face after the second day.
