I'll give things a try, and be optimistic. This product did nothing to help my arthritis pain in my hands.Finished the entire jar.I am a retired pharmacist, having worked in the pharmaceutical industry. My approach to personal heath has been to follow the preventative route i.e. be proactive. A goal has been to ensure that all the systems of the body are maintained in a good condition as I age. “You want to AVOID taking the car (the body) to the garage (meaning a Doctor) for repairs”. My interest has always been to seek Nutritional supplements of very good quality, in terms of benefits and well as the quality of manufacture, with preference for Vegetarian products. Nutritional supplements are not as well-regulated, (or minimally regulated) as Prescription Drugs. Nutritional Supplements usually carry a label like… ‘These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA…..’ meaning they have not passed the rigor or scrutiny of the FDA. Be careful what you choose.Consequently, I take several carefully selected supplements daily as a part of the approach to maintaining good health. This product is a part of the ‘Pill Box of Supplements’. I am very satisfied with this approach and it has helped me significantly. Best wishes to the reader for long life and good health. This is advanced Boswelia. Works very well for arthritis or inflammation.I had a reaction to an antibiotic I was taking that affected my knees and hips. I could hardly walk at times. I was looking for something that didn’t require taking prescription drugs. I found this and gave it a try. It took a couple of days but I am pain free and the joints are working just fine. I’ve been taking daily for about 3-4 weeks and find no side effects.I've had hip issues for years. I couldn't sleep on any side for long before my hip would ache. I started taking 5-lox in hopes it would help another issue so I was focused on how well it was working for that. It took me a week to before I realized that my hips no longer ached and I didn't have morning stiffness in my legs and feet. The issue I was hoping to resolve was for inflammation of my nasal cavity. I added Quercetin and nettle to it and it completely cleared in a month but my hips and morning stiffness resolved in a week. I also noticed that if I take it at night I won't sleep. I have been looking to see if that was common but I haven't seen it anywhere as a side effect. I take it in the morning I get a little buzz of energy but again I haven't seen anywhere that that is supposed to happen. I love this stuff.I have been using this supplement twice a day for two weeks to treat arthritis in both big toe joints (Hallux limitus), which is a very painful, progressive condition. Unfortunately, I haven't had any significant or noticeable improvement in joint pain or mobility. I have done research on this supplement, and I do think it is worth a try for anyone with an inflammatory condition. It just didn't work for my specific condition.I did not experience any side effects from it. I have GERD and many supplements and NSAIDS cause worsened acid reflux, but I had no issue whatsoever with this supplement. It seems to be very gentle on the stomach, much better than aspirin or ibuprofen in that regard. There are some good scientific literature out about benefits from Boswellia extracts. Most suggested doses are in the 100 to 250 g range so one or two pills a day should be fine. Can help with joint pain which is what most people use it for.A friend of mine says this product keeps her functioning day by day. Alleviates her arthritis pain like nothing else. I bought some for my husband and my mother who both struggle with arthritis (especially in their hands). My mom says that after a month of taking it, she can't notice ANY improvement. My husband says he thinks it might be working a little, that his hands are not as painful as they were.I have tried 5-LOXIN from several different companies, including Life Extension. Life Extension, in my opinion, makes fantastic, high quality products. My review here is not for Life Extension but for 5-LOXIN. Yes, it appears to have a potent anti-inflammatory effect by blocking an enzyme involved in generating pro-inflammatory immune messengers. However, in my experience, it also caused me very significant depression within a few days. Granted, this is anecdotal, but it's important to know that not everyone gets just the benefits of a product like this without negatives. It's possible that the depression reflects some shift in immune function that ultimately would be positive if I stuck with it. But that seems too risky to me without some evidence to suggest it's true. So, be careful here. If it seems to trigger depression, my advice is to stop and look at other options, even something as simple as enteric coated bromelain from Life Extension or, if you think you have inflammation in the brain, look at something like Luteolin in LutiMax or other products.
